Warm Hug Broth Collective
Why broth?
Cultures around the world have used bone broth and similar remedies since ancient times to provide comfort, nourishment, and warmth in times of crisis.
Broth is known to be easily digestible and nutrient dense. It feels like a warm hug in a cup/jar. There are a wide variety of methods to make broth out of kitchen by-products that might otherwise go to waste– like animal bones, corn husks, and vegetable scraps.
While some people are able to rely on meal trains organized by friends in times of crisis, not everyone has the social capital to do so, or has community who are well-resourced enough to provide this kind of support.
who can receive broth?
Anyone in the Four Corners area (Durango, Mancos, Cortez, Farmington, Shiprock, and surrounding) can request broth from the collective.
There are no income requirement necessary in order to qualify this gift.
Chronically-ill, disabled, and grieving folx are encouraged to participate, but we’re not here to judge your reason for making a request.
When we practice coming together in times of grief and crisis, the more we make this part of the heartbeat of our activism circles and our community more broadly.
Food restrictions? Several of our members keep allergen-free kitchens and are experienced with food intolerances and dietary protocols.
